10 days desert tour from Casablanca

Overview:

See the country’s most amazing landscapes, architecture, and traditional cultures on a 10 days desert tour from Casablanca to Fez and Marrakech through the Sahara Desert. See the historic cities of Morocco as you explore ruins earliest known a decade. See the impressive structures of Fez, and then immerse yourself in the vibrant activity of the medieval medina. Relax in the bustle of Jemaa el Fna Square, explore royal palaces, and stroll past ancient tombs and beautiful gardens. Your journey will conclude in Casablanca, where ancient souks border contemporary streets and well-used cannons still border the crumbling dike.

Day 1: Casablanca arrival

Before viewing the Hassan II mosque, you will be picked up at the airport and transferred to your accommodation (the largest mosque in Morocco and one of the largest in the world). overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Casablanca - Rabat - Meknes - Fez

Breakfast and departure for Rabat, where you will tour the Kasbah Oudaas, Hassan tower, and Mohamed V’s monument. The journey will then continue to Meknes. You will see the third imperial city, Bab El Mansour (one of the most gorgeous entrances), and the Moulay Ismail tomb. Lunch at Meknes. Afterwards you will explore the Roman sites of Volubilis, after which you will go to Fez.

Day 3 : Explore Fes with a local guide

After a delicious breakfast at your Riad, you will walk to the oldest city in Morocco. The first stop on our visit is the 16th-century Mellah, the Jewish quarter that serves as the royal family’s administrative hub. From the oldest university in the region, Al Qaraouine, through the tanneries, the Attarine museum, and the mausoleum of Mulay Idriss, we will ensure that you experience all of the cultural and historical sites. After lunch, you will visit the tile cooperative and enjoy a panoramic view of the Medina of Fes.

Day 4 : Fes - Ifrane - Midelt - Erfoud - Merzouga

At 8 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel and take you to Merzouga through the Middle Atlas, a 350-kilometer mountain range extending from the south-west to the north. On the journey, we will pass by places such as Ifrane, known as the “Moroccan Switzerland” for the architecture of its buildings, and Azrou, one of Morocco’s most famous Berber cities. We will visit the valley and gorges of Ziz, as well as places like as Midelt and Erfoud. We will travel a desert trail from Erfoud to Merzouga. We will spend the night at a hotel near the entrance to the desert.

Day 5 : Explore Merzouga desert

On the next day, we will explore the most breathtaking region in the Eastern Sahara. We will approach the desert in a 4×4 vehicle, see nomad communities, admire oasis, and pass the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. Following the route, we will reach the well-known village of Khamlia, where the gnawa are located. The descendants of African slaves have come, and we shall admire their beautiful folk music. We will return to the hotel at night to ride camels that will transport us to the Berber camp in the center of the dunes, where we will eat and spend the night.

Day 6 : Merzouga - Rissani - Tinghir - Boumalne dades

We will continue our journey towards Boumalne Dades after breakfast (Gorges du Dades). Arriving at Rissani, the capital of the Tafilalet region, we will explore the city’s livestock market and souk. We will continue through the Ziz Valley until we reach Erfoud, where we will visit a fossil quarry and see how fossils are turned into works of art, tables, washbasins, and other interesting objects. The journey continues to the Dades Gorges, where we will spend the night. At the hotel for dinner and overnight accommodations.

Day 7 : Boumalne Dades - Ouarzazate - Ait-Ben Haddou - Marrakech

The morning will be spent in the magnificent Dades gorges. The river Dades provides a variety of verdant oasis on our excursion, which will allow us to see scenery of exceptional beauty. “Dadès Gorges” are a sight to behold as the valley slowly narrows and gives way to a range of large limestone blocks with steep walls. The mountain of Amgoun, the valley of the roses, and the palm grove of Skoura with its kasbahs will be passed after around 12 kilometers on a dirt road. Afternoon arrival in Marrakech, followed by transportation to the hotel.

Day 8 : Marrakech with a local guide

Following breakfast, we will see the city, which is rich of sites of outstanding architectural and cultural significance, as well as the famous, exotic, and chaotic Jemaa el Fna Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site situated at the entrance to the Medina Night in the same hotel.

Day 9 : Marrakech

Free day at leisure. Diner at leisure & overnight at the Hotel.

Day 10 : Transfer to Airport

Transfer to the airport which marks the end of our 10 days desert tour from Casablanca.
