3 days tour from Marrakech to Fes

Overview:

This 3 days tour from Marrakech to Fes will take you to the heart of the Sahara Desert in Merzouga. This journey from Marrakech to the desert includes visits to Ait Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate, the Dades Valley, and the Todgha Gorges.

The next day of your Sahara adventure consists of a camel ride across the breathtaking Erg Chebbi dunes and a night spent in a comfy tent beneath the magnificent night sky of the vast Desert. On your route to the Desert, stop at a few small Berber villages and take in the stunning panorama of the Atlas Mountains.

Day 1 : Marrakech - Ait Benhaddou Kasbah - Boumalene Dades

After the pick up from your Riad or accommodation in Marrakech, your desert trip will officially begin. Our group stops at Tizi-n-Tishka in the high Atlas Mountains to take in the breathtaking view. Our next stop is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou. Many films, including “Lawrence of Arabia,” “Gladiator,” and “Alexander,” have used the location, therefore establishing its notoriety. After lunch, we’ll continue seeing the region’s spectacular scenery and ancient sites, including the Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate and Roses Valley, location of the annual Festival of Roses.

As we go, we discover the little Berber hamlet of Skoura, El Kelaa des M’Gouna, and Boumalene Dades. Our day concludes at that hour. During our stay, our hotel will provide both dinner and breakfast.

Day 2 : Dades Gorge - Todra Gorge - Merzouga. Camel ride and night in a camp

We leave Boumalene Dades for Merzouga and Erg Chebbi, Morocco’s biggest windswept sand dunes. We approach Todra Gorge through the Berber village of Tinghir, where the 600-meter-tall cliffs are hardly 10 meters apart. We will depart Todra and go via many Berber villages on route to Tinjdad for lunch (or, if you want, you may continue on to Rissani, where you can have the local specialty, Berber Pizza, if you arrive before noon).

Following lunch, we check into a hotel in Merzouga and keep our stuff. We ride camels over the Erg Chebbi dunes until we reach a Berber camp. These sand dunes are the tallest in all of North Africa, measuring 20 kilometers in length and between 5 and 8 kilometers in width. The setting is distinct and varied. From the hotel, we ride a camel for 1 hour and 30 minutes to the camp, where we retain our nomadic Berber identity. The dunes themselves provided a portion of the necessary infrastructure, so we supplemented our three Berber tents with a restaurant and kitchen. For the tents, we provide bedding, including mattresses, blankets, and pillows. When the sun sets over the desert, we all gather around the fire to listen to music, with Berber drums.

Day 3 : Merzouga - Ziz Valley - Midelt - Ifrane - Fez

Our camel man will wake you up just before dawn so you can see the sun rise over the sand dunes. In the winter months, when the days are short, we will begin our camel journey, resting along the route to greet the dawn. After settling into the hotel, there will be time for showers and breakfast before to our departure for Fez.

Merzouga to Fez is accessible by way of Arfoud, Errachidia, the Ziz Valley, Midelt, the Cedar Forest of Azrou, Ifrane, and Fez. On a bright day, it is possible to see one of the jungle monkey species. We will stop at one of the several eateries along the route for lunch. Our guide will bring you to the hotel or riad of your choice in a safe manner. At the end of the 3 days tour from Marrakech to Fes, we will transport you back to your Riad or hotel. We hope you had a wonderful time in Morocco, and we wish you the best of luck on your travels.
