Overview:
This 3-day desert trip from Fes to Marrakech is one of the greatest ways to discover the authentic South Morocco. This excursion takes advantage of the greatest path between the two royal cities of Morocco, Fes and Marrakech. The journey offers the finest chance to see the Sahara desert. This excursion will take you to Marrakech on your final few days in Morocco so you can experience more of the city.
Day 1: Fez - Ifrane - Midelt – Ziz Gorges - Erfoud - Merzouga
Following picking you up from your riad or hotel, we’ll start our 3-day desert trip from Fes to Marrakech to Ifrane and Azrou through the Middle Atlas Mountains. During the way, we will stop by some cedar trees to view Barbary monkeys in their natural habitat. As you approach the city of Errachidia, you will experience views of the Middle-Atlas plateau as you go from Midelt via the Tizi Ntalghamt pass and farther into the breathtaking Ziz Gorges carved from volcanic rock. After lunch, we will go to Erfoud, Rissani, and Merzouga in the Ziz Valley. With a drink of mint tea, we will leave our possessions in a safe location and ride camels to a Berber tent in the center of the Erg Chebbi Sad Dunes, the highest sand dunes in all of North Africa. It is a one-hour-and-thirty-minute camel ride to the desert camp where we will spend the night in Berber tents. Each tent has cushions, blankets, and mattresses. After dinner, the Berber drums will be played around the campfire while we watch the night sky.
Day 2: Merzouga - Todra Gorge - Dades Valley
After experiencing a spectacular dawn on the dunes, we will ride camels back to the hotel the next morning. Breakfast will be served, and we will then go to Tinghir and the Todra Gorges before completing the day at the Dades Valley.
Day 3: Dades Valley - Ait-Ben Haddou Kasbah - High Atlas mountain - Marrakech
Following breakfast, we will travel over the Dades Valley to Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate. In the “route of a thousand Kasbahs” across the Dades Valley, you may snap a large deal of photographs. Before to traveling to Ouarzazat, sometimes known as “the Hollywood of Africa,” we will visit the Roses valley and the town of Skoura. The vast Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah in the center of the Moroccan desert is where we will have lunch. Following seeing this World Heritage site, we will continue our journey by traversing the High Atlas Mountains through the spectacular 2,260-meter-high Tizi N-Tichka pass. We will pause to take in the landscape and visit the argan oil cooperative. We anticipate arriving in Marrakech late in the afternoon.
